Abstract

This community service program aims to instill financial literacy awareness from an early age through the activity “Saving Education and the Making of Future Piggy Banks” in Wringinpitu Village, Tegaldlimo District. The background of this activity is based on the habit of children in the village who tend to spend their pocket money on consumptive needs rather than saving. The method used was an educative and participatory approach, including preparation, socialization, practical training in making piggy banks from used plastic bottles and cardboard, as well as saving simulations. The results showed high enthusiasm among children in creating creative piggy banks decorated according to their imagination, which fostered a sense of ownership and motivation to save. Moreover, the activity improved children’s understanding of the importance of discipline, responsibility, and environmental awareness through the application of the reduce, reuse, recycle principle. The concept of the “Future Piggy Bank” not only serves as a saving container but also as a symbolic reminder of children’s goals and aspirations. Thus, this program effectively builds saving habits, enhances creativity, and instills environmental care values from an early age.
